The Cunard Learning Centre, a division of MetroWorks (formerly known as HRDA Enterprises Ltd.), has been providing academic upgrading to adults 19 years of age and older in the Metro area for more than twenty years. With the support of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education, the Cunard Learning Centre offers a tuition-free full-time Adult Learning Program that provides upgrading to adult learners who present with the literacy and numeracy challenges noted above.
Cunard Learning Centre currently offers level I, II and III of the Adult Learning Program, the levels I, II and III curriculum consists of studies in some or all of these areas:
- Social Studies
- Computer Skills
- Human Relations
Upon completion of Level III, participants may attend Level IV at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) to attain their Nova Scotia Adult High School Diploma, Halifax Regional School Board’s Flexible Learning and Education Centres (FLECs), or learners may apply to write the GED tests.
The Cunard Learning Centre also offers an evening-based GED Prep program. It is designed to meet the needs of adults who do not have a high school diploma and who wish to upgrade their academic skills but who are unable to access daytime programs due to employment, childcare issues or other barriers.
