Established in 1986 by the Board of Director’s of MetroWorks, Options Work Activity Program is a referral-based, 30-week holistic training program for youth and adults who face barriers to employment. We offer a combination of individual employment counseling, personal development, academic upgrading, team building, employability skills development, basic skill development and an on-the-job work placement.
The basic skill development areas offered are Food Service, Basic Office Skills, Building Maintenance and Customer Service. During the first two weeks of the program, all participants are given the opportunity to spend some time in each of the basic skill development areas.
We also offer a 10-week Advanced Office Skills Program which affords those who have been out of the workforce the opportunity to upgrade their technical skills.
The “first step” for many, Options Office Skills Program focuses on assisting participants in developing the essential skills required to move into either further training or employment opportunities. Our participants receive $150.00 per month, based on attendance.
If you are a teacher, doctor, counselor or social worker who knows of someone who might benefit from enrollment in the Options Work Activity Program, please click here to download a referral form and information brochure.
“The patience and understanding were just two of the many things that I left the program with. The staff were aware of my potential though I couldn’t see it. The friends I made there were real friends who I hope to keep in contact with after the program was over. The most important thing I got was the knowledge that I could live with my past, succeed in the present and hope for the future.”
