Stone Hearth Bakery is a kosher commercial bakery whose primary goal is
to operate a viable enterprise supported by a work adjustment skills training program. Stone Hearth produces premium quality European-styled breads, bagels and specialty baked goods that are distributed throughout the Maritimes and can be found in most major grocery stores.
Stone Hearth’s unique Work Adjustment Skills Training Program offers individuals 19 years and older who have experienced a mental health difficulty the opportunity to develop good work habits, gain employment experience, earn a paycheque, build confidence in their abilities and develop self esteem in a work environment before entering the workplace. Training and healthy living skills are also emphasized.
The work adjustment curriculum is designed for individuals who might not have relevant job experience or have lengthy lapses in their employment history.
Our employees work five days a week performing a number of essential tasks at the bakery, including:
• Rolling bagels
• Using the ovens
• Stocking the retail shelves
• Using the photocopier
• Assisting with administrative paperwork
